Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
Fallon Guliwala, the wife of actor and politician Ajaz Khan, was arrested on Thursday by the Customs Department in connection with a drug smuggling case. The arrest followed a raid at her residence in Jogeshwari, Mumbai, where authorities seized 136 grams of charas, 33 grams of MDMA in empty pouches, 28 grams of MDMA tablets, and ₹11 lakh in cash. Guliwala’s arrest comes after an investigation that began over a month ago when Khan’s office staff member, Suraj Gaud, was apprehended for allegedly ordering drugs through a courier service.
The investigation into the case started on October 8, 2024, when Suraj Gaud, who worked as a peon at Ajaz Khan’s office, was arrested after customs officials intercepted a package containing 100 grams of mephedrone (MDMA) shipped from a European country. The parcel was addressed to Gaud but was reportedly ordered by Farhan, Khan’s nephew. The drugs were intended to be delivered to Ajaz Khan’s office at B-207, Oberoi Chambers, Veera Desai Industrial Estate, Andheri, Mumbai. Gaud was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Following Gaud’s arrest, the Customs Department expanded their investigation, which led them to Guliwala’s residence in Jogeshwari. The flat, registered in her name, was searched by officials, who discovered the narcotics and cash. Guliwala, during questioning, confirmed her relationship to Farhan, who is linked to Ek Number Production House. Farhan’s involvement in the drug operation is part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities believe he may have been coordinating the shipments of illicit drugs.
Ajaz Khan has not yet been questioned in connection with this case, as he has been unavailable. However, officials have expressed their intent to record his statement regarding the drugs found at his residence and office. The Customs Department is continuing its investigation to ascertain the full scope of the drug trafficking network and Khan’s potential involvement.
Ajaz Khan, who previously faced legal issues related to drugs, was arrested in 2021 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for possession of 31 tablets of Alprazolam, which weighed 4.5 grams. He spent 26 months in jail before being released. In 2022, the Bombay High Court denied him bail, citing charges suggesting his involvement in illicit drug trafficking. Khan also contested the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Versova constituency but received only 155 votes, far behind the NOTA (None of the Above) option, which received 1,298 votes.
